Apple addresses iPhone 15 overheating issue with software update
Apple addressed reports of some iPhone 15 models running hot over the weekend and attributed the issue to a combination of factors, including specific apps like Instagram and Uber, post-transfer background processing, and unspecified bugs in iOS 17.
The tech giant released a new software update, iOS 17.0.3, on October 4 which includes a patch to address the problem, as reported by The Verge. The patch notes for this update mention that it "addresses an issue that may cause the iPhone to run warmer than expected".
While there had been speculation about hardware-related issues, such as the iPhone 15's more powerful processor or titanium components, contributing to the heating problem, Apple's statements emphasized software-related factors as the primary cause of the issue. It's worth noting that the update also addresses heating concerns related to USB-C chargers.
