French leader declares Europe at historic turning point during conference in Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron has described the current developments in Europe as a historic turning point, marking the beginning of a new era.
“What’s happening with Poland, Germany and Great Britain is a historic moment for European defence and toward a greater independence for our security. Obviously, for Ukraine and all of us. It’s a new era. It’s a Europe that sees itself as a power,” President Macron said during a press conference in Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasised that the meeting in Kyiv between Ukraine and its European allies showcased the power of unity and collective resolve.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Kyiv to take part in the "Coalition of the Willing" summit. Following the talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with the European leaders, had a joint phone call with US President Donald Trump.
