Azerbaijan, Congo enjoy good opportunities for cooperation

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament Sahiba Gafarova has today met with a delegation led by President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, who is on an official visit to the country.

The Parliament Speaker described the visit as a manifestation of mutual interest and intention to develop cooperation between the two countries. She expressed confidence that talks with President Ilham Aliyev and agreements reached during the visit would give a serious impetus to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Congo, APA reports.

It was noted at the meeting that Congo is one of the countries that supported the extension of Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement, and that during its chairmanship in the organization Azerbaijan paid special attention to the development of cooperation with African countries both in bilateral and multilateral format, as well as protection of common interests.

Good opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas, including trade and economic, energy, mining, military, humanitarian and other ones were pointed out at the meeting.
