Azerbaijani embassy in Lebanon partially evacuated Amid security concerns
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has confirmed the partial evacuation of its embassy staff in Lebanon due to security concerns.
Aykhan Hajizada, the spokesman for the ministry, clarified that while some personnel have been withdrawn, the embassy remains operational, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
"Our embassy in Lebanon continues its activity. The embassy staff has been partially evacuated," Hajizada emphasized.
Tensions in the Middle East escalated dramatically following the incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023. This attack resulted in the deaths of residents in border settlements and the abduction of approximately 250 hostages.
The militants characterized their actions as retaliation against Israeli measures at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. In response, Israel imposed a complete blockade on Gaza and initiated retaliatory strikes in the enclave, as well as in parts of Lebanon and Syria, before commencing a ground operation in Gaza.
