Azerbaijani Ombudsperson urges global action against Armenia's mine threats to civilians
Azerbaijan's Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson), Sabina Aliyeva, has urged international organizations to take decisive measures to address the ongoing issue of landmines as a result of Armenia's military actions.
In a statement made on the occasion of the observance of “Children’s Rights Month," Aliyeva highlighted that over 3,400 Azerbaijani citizens, including 358 children, have suffered due to mine-related incidents since the onset of Armenia's aggression, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
She emphasized that environmental crimes perpetrated by Armenia in previously occupied Azerbaijani territories, along with the laying of mines, pose significant risks to civilian safety and hinder the safe return of displaced populations, particularly children.
"I urge international organizations focused on human rights to take decisive action to address this issue and put an end to Armenia's mine threats," Ombudsperson Aliyeva noted.
