Latvian envoy: Azerbaijan to make Karabakh even more beautiful
Latvian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Edgars Skuja has said that Azerbaijan will make the Karabakh region even more beautiful.
He made the remarks at the B2B forum on “Green Technologies and Sustainable Development” in Baku on October 17, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“Today we reaffirm the independence of Azerbaijan. We wish your country success in the reconstruction of Karabakh. I am confident that Azerbaijan will make this region even more beautiful,” he noted.
The ambassador also touched upon bilateral relations, emphasising that his country has excellent and friendly ties with Azerbaijan.
The diplomat expressed hope that the Latvian president will soon pay a visit to Azerbaijan and that the Azerbaijani president will pay a visit to Latvia. He said these visits will be of great importance for the further strengthening of bilateral ties.
Azerbaijan is currently implementing large-scale restoration and reconstruction work in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions. Major infrastructure projects include the rebuilding of roads, bridges, and utilities, the restoration of transportation links that were damaged during the conflict, and facilitating better connectivity within Azerbaijan and to neighbouring regions.
Besides, efforts are underway to rebuild residential areas and provide housing for displaced persons. For this purpose, the Azerbaijani government has allocated resources to construct new homes and restore damaged buildings. The government is also implementing initiatives to revive local economies by encouraging investments in various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing. This includes providing support for businesses and creating job opportunities for residents returning to the region.
