Argentina’s Milei posts nearly 1,000 criticisms of journalists in four days
Argentine President Javier Milei published nearly 1,000 posts on the social media platform X between April 2 and 5, sharply criticising and insulting journalists.
Milei authored 86 original posts and shared an additional 874 messages from other users, Caliber.Az reports, citing La Nación.
In total, 1,214 posts appeared on his account over the four days, with nearly 80% focused on attacks against the media.
In his posts, he accused journalists of corruption and used the acronym NONSALP (“We do not hate journalists enough”).
The surge in activity followed the publication of an investigation by openDemocracy, which alleged that in 2024, individuals from Russia had paid Argentine journalists to criticise the government.
The Embassy of Russia in Argentina rejected the claims, calling them unfounded and aimed at damaging bilateral relations.
The report also coincided with a series of domestic controversies, including allegations of illicit enrichment against Manuel Adorni, presidential spokesperson, as well as discussions about Milei’s possible involvement in a controversial cryptocurrency project believed to have been a scam, and alleged irregularities in the issuance of mortgage loans to public sector employees.
