Armenia emerges as top holiday spot for Russians, travel official says
Armenia ranks among the most popular destinations for Russian tourists during the New Year holidays.
According to Caliber.Az, Aleksan Mkrtchyan, vice president of the Alliance of Travel Agencies, shared this information with the Russian media.
“When it comes to neighboring countries, Belarus remains the most popular choice. Far behind are Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, though they lag significantly,” Mkrtchyan said when asked about the countries Russians select for their New Year trips.
He noted that the choice of more distant destinations largely depends on whether travelers live in the western or eastern regions of Russia.
Residents of the European part of the country tend to travel to Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, China, and Vietnam, while those in Siberia and the Far East more often choose China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
