Armenia launches nationwide anti-corruption operations targeting election bribery
Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee has announced the launch of large-scale investigative operations across the country aimed at combating alleged vote-buying and other election-related corruption offenses.
In a statement, the agency said the operations would take place over two days and were initiated following numerous investigative leads and citizen reports received in recent months, Caliber.Az reports.
The Committee said investigators would employ all legal mechanisms available to them, including modern technical equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), to identify individuals suspected of participating in schemes involving the giving and receiving of pre-election bribes.
According to the agency, authorities have collected hundreds of intelligence reports concerning alleged election bribery and have discovered lists containing the personal data of thousands of citizens during previous searches and investigations.
The Anti-Corruption Committee called on the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement efforts. It also urged individuals involved in such activities to recognize what it described as the "inevitability of accountability" and to reject the practice of pre-election bribery.
