Russian adviser: Putin’s Ukraine peace plan draws growing attention

04 September 2026 10:02

Many countries around the world are considering Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposed peace plan for Ukraine, Russian presidential adviser Anton Kobyakov said on Friday, September 4.

“Generally speaking, many are asking the question: isn’t it time to finally move on to discussing the Russian president’s plan for resolving this Ukrainian conflict?” Kobyakov said.

His remarks came a day after Putin said Moscow and Kyiv continued to maintain contacts through their special services. Putin also said the two sides should reach agreements without the involvement of mediators, whose role, he said, should be limited to providing support.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha subsequently announced an imminent move to a new stage of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means. He said new momentum was expected in the process.
