Armenia must not be used in foreign interests, PM says
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that Armenia should not allow external forces to use it against other countries.
Speaking during an election campaign event in Hrazdan, Pashinyan said the country’s historical experience should guide its future policy decisions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“The most important lesson of the past is that as soon as we allow others to use us against others, in the end, we are pushed aside, left unprotected,” he noted.
Pashinyan added that Armenia should use its resources solely to ensure its own security, state development and the welfare of its citizens.
The PM also rejected opposition calls for external guarantors of peace, arguing that this would amount to transferring control over the country’s future to third parties.
“We have more or less taken our destiny into our own hands, and we cannot let go of this steering wheel,” he emphasised.
