Armenian official urges swift Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal, stronger ties with Türkiye
Ruben Rubinyan, Vice President of the National Assembly of Armenia, articulated a hopeful vision for regional stability during his address at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, calling for the prompt signing and ratification of an Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement.
Rubinyan also underscored the significance of Armenia’s relations with Türkiye, highlighting them as a key priority within the country’s foreign policy agenda, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“We must not miss this historic opportunity to build good-neighborly relations,” Rubinyan declared. “Normalization will not only usher in stability and prosperity for the region but also bolster global security by demonstrating that entrenched conflicts can be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.”
Expressing readiness for immediate action, Rubinyan voiced hope that Türkiye would respond positively to Armenia’s willingness to establish diplomatic ties and reopen their shared borders. “We are ready for this right now,” he affirmed.
Addressing Armenia’s broader security framework, Rubinyan reflected on the challenges posed by a long-standing reliance on a single strategic partner. “Our security strategy has depended on a single pole for decades, which has created many problems. We are now actively working to diversify it,” he explained.
