Azerbaijan, Congo explore new avenues for sports collaboration PHOTO
Azer Aliyev, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), welcomed a delegation led by Didier Budimbu, the Minister of Sport and Culture of the Democratic Republic of Congo, during his visit to Azerbaijan.
Aliyev highlighted the advancements and achievements in Azerbaijan's sports sector, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He noted that Azerbaijani athletes secured 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, placing the national team 30th overall in the medal standings.
In response, Minister Budimbu expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulated the Azerbaijani Olympic team on their successes in Paris. He also shared insights into the performance of Congolese athletes at the Olympic Games.
The two officials discussed potential avenues for collaboration in sports between Azerbaijan and Congo. As a gesture of goodwill, Aliyev presented Budimbu with a special gift from the NOC.
