Minister: Moody’s upgrade signals resilience of Türkiye’s economy
On July 26, 2025, Türkiye’s Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that Moody’s recent upgrade of Türkiye’s credit rating confirms the country’s economic resilience and effective management during uncertain times.
Addressing the public via the X page and cited by Caliber.Az, Şimşek said: “Our economy has overcome a period of both domestic and external challenges and has now entered a positive cycle once again. This rating upgrade reflects our successful management and the strength of our economy.”
He added that the government is committed to consolidating these gains through reforms aimed at structural transformation in the industrial sector, with particular focus on green and digital development.
“As we continue to implement our programme consistently and decisively, the risk premium will decrease more rapidly, financing conditions will improve, and further credit rating upgrades will follow,” Şimşek stated.
Moody’s upgraded Türkiye’s sovereign credit rating from B1 to Ba3 on July 25 and revised the rating outlook from positive to stable.
