Official: Security of Russia’s energy infrastructure under special control

Russia’s electricity infrastructure remains under special government security control, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“The security of electricity facilities — major thermal power plants and major substations — is constantly being handled by our grid and energy companies. It is under government control, under special control,” Novak emphasised.

He also said Russia would be able to fully restore its oil refineries, adding that the country has sufficient technology and expertise to do so. Novak described the decline in Russia’s oil production this year as a temporary phenomenon.

According to Novak, Russia will slightly reduce oil production this year, while its exports will remain stable.

He added that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz would continue to have a significant impact on global markets.
