Schumacher’s legendary Ferrari F1 car fetches $18 million at auction
A piece of Formula 1 history was sold for a staggering $18.17 million at an RM Sotheby’s auction, as Michael Schumacher’s iconic 2001 Ferrari F2001 crossed the block, making it the most expensive Schumacher-driven car ever sold.
The F2001 is regarded as one of the most legendary machines in Ferrari’s racing legacy, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Schumacher drove it to victory at both the Monaco Grand Prix and the Hungarian Grand Prix during the 2001 Formula 1 season - key wins that helped secure his fourth World Championship title.
Michael Schumacher is widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers in motorsport history.
In 2013, he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury while skiing. Since then, his family has closely guarded his privacy, releasing very little information about his condition.
