Azerbaijan highlights energy role in talks with global oil trader Vitol PHOTO
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met Russell Hardy, Chief Executive Officer of Vitol, on January 21 on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, with discussions focusing on energy cooperation and supplies to Europe.
The talks reviewed the country’s oil and gas strategy, with particular emphasis on Baku’s contribution to European energy security. Officials noted that Azerbaijani gas is currently supplied to several European states, including a number of European Union members, Caliber.Az reports via state media.
Both sides also exchanged views on existing and potential areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vitol.
Vitol, which is headquartered in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, is one of the world’s largest energy trading companies. Founded in 1966, the Vitol Group is ranked among the top three global brokers of crude oil and petroleum products.
