24 January 2024 17:07

Azerbaijan is hosting summit of air navigation service providers.

The first summit of heads of air navigation service providers of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan) under the auspices of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) is being held in Baku from January 23 to 25. The event was organised by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Digital Development and Transport together with Azerbaijan Airlines company, Azerbaijan Airlines company told Caliber.Az.

CANSO Director General Simon Hocquard, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov, Turkish Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Enver Iskurt, Acting President of Azerbaijan Airlines company Samir Rzayev, as well as heads of aviation agencies and air navigation services delivered speeches at the meeting on January 24.

The issues of development and air traffic control in the region were discussed at the meeting. The discussions resulted in agreed decisions aimed at increasing flight safety and improving the efficiency of joint activity.

Air navigation service providers are the key participants in the aviation industry, responsible for ensuring flight safety, developing air transport corridors in the region, and ensuring transit flow through the airspace of countries. They create conditions for ensuring the global air transportation chain, increasing flight efficiency, supporting the concept of sustainable development and reducing the impact on the environment.

As part of the summit programme, its participants will also view the activity of the Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Department (AZANS), including new technologies and measures to ensure the air transportation safety in the region.

Azerbaijan’s airspace is attractive to airlines from other countries due to its high-quality service and the intersection of important air routes between Europe and Asia.

The number of transit flights is growing rapidly, reaching an average of 15,000 per month.

CANSO is an international organisation of air navigation support providers, and Azerbaijan has been a member since 2005.
