Azerbaijan implementing pilot project for waste separation in Shusha
Spokesman for Tamiz Shahar company Orkhan Jabbarli has said that a new waste separation initiative, categorising waste into four types - a significant innovation for Azerbaijan, is being introduced in Shusha city.
He noted that appropriate containers for waste separation have already been installed in Shusha as part of a pilot project, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The waste will be sorted into four categories: paper, glass, metal-plastic, and mixed waste. Jabbarly emphasised that the Karabakh region has been designated as a green zone, making effective waste management even more crucial.
The "Tamiz Shahar" company was established upon the decree of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, dated August 6, 2008 "On improving the management of household waste in Baku city".
On March 12, 2009, the company, which was registered with the state, started working in the direction of improving the environmental situation by establishing the waste disposal and disposal system in Baku in accordance with modern standards.
