Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have been steadily strengthening their bilateral relations across multiple sectors, including trade, defence, and regional infrastructure. In the first half of 2025, trade between the two countries reached $500.77 million, marking a 4.2-fold increase compared with the same period in 2024.
Azerbaijan’s exports to Kazakhstan doubled to $52.54 million, while imports surged nearly fivefold to $448.23 million. This growth is largely attributed to the 2022 Comprehensive Development Program of Cooperation, which aims to enhance economic ties between the two nations.
Defence cooperation has also deepened, with joint military exercises such as “Bіrlestіk-2024” and “Altyn Kyran-2024” focusing on counterterrorism and intelligence sharing. Kazakhstan regards Azerbaijan as a reliable strategic partner, and both countries have committed to expanding their defence collaboration.
At the same time, the two nations are advancing the Middle Corridor initiative to enhance connectivity between Asia and Europe, with discussions focusing on improving transport logistics and infrastructure to facilitate smoother trade flows.
High-level visits, including Kazakh President Tokayev’s trip to Azerbaijan in March 2024, have led to agreements in areas such as education, culture, and media, reflecting growing diplomatic engagement
