Azerbaijan, Lithuania explore cooperation on Middle Corridor
Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has met his Lithuanian counterpart Inga Ruginiene in Baku to discuss bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on transport links and the development of the Middle Corridor.
Both sides reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation across political, economic, transport, energy and other sectors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers.
The two prime ministers expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of bilateral relations and highlighted the potential for further expansion in areas of mutual interest.
They placed particular emphasis on boosting economic ties, increasing trade turnover and encouraging investment flows.
Both sides underlined the importance of the work carried out by the joint intergovernmental commission, describing it as a key mechanism for advancing practical cooperation.
Transport and logistics featured prominently in the discussions, with the officials examining opportunities to deepen collaboration along the Middle Corridor and other international transport routes. The Middle Corridor has been gaining attention as an alternative trade route connecting Asia and Europe, enhancing transit capacity through the South Caucasus region.
Energy cooperation was also on the agenda, alongside discussions on collaboration within international organisations. Both sides noted the importance of strengthening Azerbaijan’s relations with the European Union, signalling shared interest in broader regional integration and connectivity.
