Azerbaijan-Pakistan ties deepen as Aliyev receives credentials from new envoy

On August 5, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of Qasim Mohiuddin, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

President Ilham Aliyev fondly recalled his state visit to Pakistan, highlighting the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation, Caliber.Az reports via Azertac.

He described this gesture as a reflection of the strong friendship, brotherhood, and partnership between the two nations.

The president emphasized the significance of his visit to Pakistan, during which a broad range of cooperation matters were discussed, and several key documents were signed. He noted that the visit marked a new phase in Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations, with new areas of cooperation, particularly in investment and energy, being identified. Both countries are actively working to implement the decisions and agreements made during this visit, including the execution of the preferential trade agreement.

President Aliyev praised Pakistan for not establishing diplomatic relations with Armenia due to the latter's occupation of Azerbaijani territories, even after the liberation of these lands and the restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty. He underscored the importance of Pakistan's political support during the Patriotic War, viewing it as a testament to the true friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.

Ambassador Mohiuddin, expressing gratitude for the warm reception, conveyed sincere greetings from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan. He expressed his deep affection for Azerbaijan and pride in representing Pakistan in such a beautiful country.

The ambassador pledged to pursue the strategic cooperation areas outlined during President Aliyev's state visit to Pakistan and emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan's support for Pakistan, particularly regarding the Jammu and Kashmir issue under UN Security Council resolutions.
