Azerbaijan's air carriers outperform flight statistics from previous years

Azerbaijan's civil aviation carriers have performed a total of 26,489 flights to 42 countries in 2024, marking a 16.1% increase compared to the previous year.

This increase by 3,680 more flights has been reported by the State Tourism Agency, Caliber.Az reports.

The most flights were completed to the Russian Federation with 7,643, up by 8.9% from 2023, followed by Türkiye with 5,855 flights (+4.1%) and the UAE with 3,179 flights (+30.3%).

Other top destinations included Georgia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, India, Qatar, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait. Germany, which has previously been one of the top 10 destinations, dropped to 13th place and was replaced by India.

The month of December 2024 saw a 4.4% increase in flights compared to the previous year, with a total of 2,138 flights. This increase occured despite flights to Russia having decreased by 6.6% that month following the tragic plane catastrophe of Azerbaijan Airlines' 8243 flight from Baku to Grozny, which was downed by Russian air defence forces.
