Azerbaijan's cybersecurity chief reveals unseen attacks during elections, major events
Azerbaijan is experiencing a surge in cyberattacks, not only in connection with COP29 but also during other international events, said Ilgar Musayev, Head of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security.
"Citizens do not see this, and Service cannot disclose all information. But all attacks are being prevented," Caliber.Az quotes Musayev as saying.
Commenting further he added: "Sometimes we publish this information quarterly in the media. There are cyber-attacks and threats against citizens and state institutions. Such attacks also occur in connection with COP29."
Musayev revealed that there were attempts at cyber attacks during both the presidential and parliamentary elections. “We simply cannot disclose them,” he said highlighting ongoing efforts to combat such threats.
He also addressed the issue of misinformation being spread on various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok: “Misinformation is disseminated on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. We curb these activities by working in collaboration with these platforms.”
