Azerbaijan's COP29 president meets IEA chief to discuss green energy investment
Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and COP29 President, Mukhtar Babayev, has discussed with IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol the steps to attract investment for the green energy transition.
According to a report from the COP29 Presidency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The two officials discussed crucial stages of the energy transition, including the implementation of agreements reached at the COP29 summit in Baku.
They also focused on strategies to attract additional investments in the shift towards clean energy, as stated in the release.
Note that, the WEF has been held for 54 years in the heart of the Swiss Alps in the ski resort of Davos. The main theme of this year's forum, which commenced on January 20 and will last for 4 days, is “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age”.
Key topics include trade dynamics, economic growth, and international cooperation. These include responding to geopolitical shocks, stimulating growth to improve living standards, and stewarding a just and inclusive energy transition.
The forum is expected to be attended by about 3,000 representatives from more than 130 countries, including 60 heads of state and government and 900 CEOs of the world's leading companies.
