Solidarity in action: COP29 chief vows support for Brazil’s leadership at COP30
The COP29 Chairmanship has expressed its readiness to support and contribute to the success of COP30, which will take place in Belém, Brazil in November 2025.
As reported by Caliber.Az, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev emphasized this in a statement shared on the COP29 Presidency's social media platform X.

“Mukhtar Babayev welcomes the appointment of Brazil's Deputy Foreign Minister André Aranha Corrêa do Lago as the President of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) and National Secretary for Climate Change Ana Toni as COP30 Director General," the statement reads. "In the spirit of solidarity, the COP29 Presidency extends its support to make COP30 a success for all."
COP30, scheduled for November 10–21, 2025, is set to be a key event in global climate negotiations, particularly in advancing the goals of the Paris Agreement.
The conference will feature multiple sessions, including the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30), the 20th Meeting of Kyoto Protocol Parties (CMP20), and the 7th Meeting of Paris Agreement Parties (CMA7).
The main focus areas of COP30 will include:
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- Adapting to climate change
- Financing climate initiatives in developing nations
- Promoting renewable energy technologies and low-carbon solutions
- Preserving forests and biodiversity
- Addressing climate justice and the social impacts of climate change
