Azerbaijan’s Shusha, Türkiye’s Trabzon sign sister-city deal
The Azerbaijani city of Shusha and Türkiye’s Trabzon have formalised sister-city relations, seeking to broaden cooperation in culture, tourism, urban development and economic engagement.
Shusha in Azerbaijan and Trabzon in Türkiye have formalised sister-city ties, aiming to expand cooperation across culture, tourism, urban development and economic engagement, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
A memorandum of understanding was signed by Aydin Karimov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Shusha district, and Ahmet Metin Genç, Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality.
Under the agreement, the two cities plan to collaborate on cultural exchange programmes, tourism promotion, scientific cooperation, urban planning and broader socio-economic initiatives.
The signing took place during the event titled “Cities at the Centre of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation”, held on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Shusha, a culturally significant city in Azerbaijan, has in recent years been positioned as a key hub for reconstruction and international engagement, while Trabzon, a major Black Sea city in Türkiye, is expanding its regional cooperation network through similar partnerships.
