Azerbaijan stands by brotherly Iranian people, says President Aliyev

President Ilham Aliyev has thanked his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, for the kind and sincere words expressed about Azerbaijan, reaffirming that Azerbaijan stands by the brotherly Iranian people.

In a post on X cited by Caliber.Az, the Azerbaijani leader said: “Mr. President Masoud Pezeshkian, I thank you for the kind and sincere words you have said about Azerbaijan. The peoples of Azerbaijan and Iran have always stood by each other in difficult and hard times. Against the backdrop of the recent events in our region, it has once again been demonstrated that Azerbaijan stands by the brotherly Iranian people.”

Earlier, Pezeshkian, speaking about improved relations between Tehran and its neighbouring countries, separately highlighted cooperation with Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan provided Iran with the necessary assistance, including on issues related to routes. They accompanied us and provided assistance with everything that was necessary,” Pezeshkian said.
