Azerbaijan, WHO strengthen cooperation, discuss future projects
Head of the Azerbaijani delegation, Health Minister Teymur Musayev and Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus met within the framework of the 77th session of the World Health Assembly.
During the meeting, Musayev stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to close cooperation with the World Health Organization and expressed gratitude for the support provided by WHO to Azerbaijan over the past period, Report informs.
For his part, Ghebreyesus highly appreciated the importance attached by President Ilham Aliyev to cooperation with the World Health Organization and expressed confidence that future joint projects will also be successfully implemented.
Congratulating Azerbaijan on its election as the venue of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the WHO Director General expressed gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan for the invitation to participate in the prestigious event.
Stressing that Azerbaijan always hosts and organizes international events at the highest level, Ghebreyesus said he was looking forward to participating in COP29, which will be held in Baku in November this year.
Moreover, the sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
