Baku TV director: Information war persists despite end of active conflict
Despite the end of active conflict following the Patriotic War, the information war continues to rage, involving major global powers, said Ramin Jafarov, Director of Baku TV.
At a conference titled "The Factor of the Victorious Leader: The Growing Authority of Our Country in the World and New Realities," Jafarov outlined the role the media plays in this ongoing battle, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"We are actively participating in the information war by producing video content in five languages," Jafarov stated. He acknowledged President Ilham Aliyev's pivotal role in supporting the media, particularly through international interviews and the annual media forum in Shusha.
Jafarov highlighted the importance of digital journalism, noting the evolution from traditional television broadcasts to live-streaming on social media platforms. However, he also warned of the rise of fake news and stressed the need for media organizations to counter misinformation.
Two years ago, Baku TV established a digital media school to combat this issue, training students who later contribute to the network’s efforts in ensuring the accuracy of the information presented to the public.
"Our activities also include combating media outlets funded by some Western countries," Jafarov added. "The most significant efforts are led by President Aliyev, who ensures that information about our country is delivered directly from the source, which is crucial in the fight against misinformation."
