Azerbaijani president hosts ECO Secretary-General amid preparations for key summit

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev has welcomed the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Asad Majeed Khan, on March 12.

Stating that Azerbaijan will host the ECO Summit this year, Ilham Aliyev emphasised that Asad Majeed Khan's visit opens up excellent opportunities for discussions on preparations for the summit, Caliber.Az reports via official website of president.

Pointing out that Azerbaijan is an active member of the ECO, Ilham Aliyev stated that Baku is ready to contribute to strengthening cooperation among member states and advancing the issues on the agenda.

The guest noted that the participating countries of the ECO share common values and spoke of the significant potential and prospects for furthering cooperation within the organisation. Asad Majeed Khan also underscored that Azerbaijan possesses considerable experience in hosting international events, expressing confidence that the ECO summit would be organised at the highest level.

The Secretary-General expressed satisfaction with his participation in the XII Global Baku Forum, pointing out that the forum serves as an important platform for discussing global issues.

During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on the future prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ECO.
