Azerbaijani president, Jordanian deputy PM chart path for closer partnership PHOTO
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on July 8, with discussions centring on strengthening relations between the two countries and expanding cooperation in political, economic, energy, investment, connectivity, humanitarian and other areas.
During the meeting, the guest conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan and his invitation to President Aliyev to visit Jordan, noting that the Jordanian monarch highly values his personal relations with the Azerbaijani leader, Caliber.Az reports, citing state media.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked Ayman Safadi to convey his regards to King Abdullah II. The Azerbaijani President also invited the Jordanian King to visit Azerbaijan.
President Aliyev recalled with satisfaction his meetings with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein in Azerbaijan, Jordan, and on the sidelines of international events.
The sides emphasised that mutual visits and contacts at various levels play an important role in developing relations between the two countries, stressing that bilateral ties are based on the principles of friendship and brotherhood.
The meeting also highlighted significant opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in political, economic, energy, connectivity, investment, humanitarian, and other fields. The parties exchanged views on regional issues, future contacts, expanding the activities of the intergovernmental commission, and parliamentary cooperation.
Touching upon cooperation in tourism, the sides discussed the possibility of launching direct regular flights between Azerbaijan and Jordan.
