Baku, Islamabad hold talks around military-technical cooperation
Azerbaijan and Pakistan have discussed further strengthening of cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, Azerbaijani ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, has said.
“Pleased to meet with the Federal Minister for Defence Production, Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj on Monday [May 5]. Further strengthening of Azerbaijani-Pakistani relations, particularly in military and military-technical fields were the main theme of our discussion,” he wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.
Azerbaijan and Pakistan have consistently maintained strong bilateral relations, marked by mutual support on key regional and international issues. Pakistan was among the first countries to recognise Azerbaijan's independence in 1991 and has remained a staunch supporter of Baku's position on the Karabakh conflict.
In recent years, their cooperation has deepened, particularly in the defense sector. Joint military exercises, defense procurement discussions, and military-technical collaboration have become regular features of their partnership. Pakistan’s defense industry, including its expertise in drone technology, armored vehicles, and training programs, presents opportunities for Azerbaijan as it continues to modernize its armed forces following the 2020 Second Karabakh War.
