Beijing criticises US for broad national security claims against Chinese firms
US authorities are interpreting the concept of national security too broadly by creating discriminatory lists to pressure Chinese companies, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said.
He made the remarks while commenting on the inclusion of Chinese drone manufacturer DJI on the US Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) blacklist, Caliber.Az reports, citing Xinhua.
“The US side should correct its erroneous actions and ensure a fair, just, and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese enterprises,” Lin said.
China’s Ministry of Commerce expressed a similar position. A ministry spokesperson urged the United States to immediately lift the FCC ban on issuing permits for the import and sale of new DJI drone models.
He added that US authorities are ignoring calls from industry circles in both countries to normalise trade, and warned that China is prepared to take countermeasures to protect the rights and interests of Chinese companies.
A day earlier, the FCC banned the import of all unmanned aerial vehicles, critical components for them, as well as communications and video surveillance equipment. The restrictions primarily affected Chinese companies SZ DJI Technology and Autel Robotics.
