Biden signals willingness for nuclear talks with Russia, China, North Korea
In a recent statement, US President Joe Biden has conveyed America's readiness to enter negotiations with Russia, China, and North Korea aimed at mitigating the nuclear threat.
This announcement was made during his address to the Nobel Peace Prize laureates, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"The US stands ready to engage in talks with Russia, China, and North Korea without preconditions to reduce the nuclear threat. There is no benefit to our nations or the world to forestall progress on reducing nuclear arsenals," Biden asserted.
The President emphasised that addressing the nuclear threat is crucial, not merely because of the current dangers but precisely due to them.
"These nuclear risks erode the norms and agreements we have worked collectively to put in place and run counter to the vital work of today’s Nobel Laureates," he stated.
Reflecting on his experiences, Biden recounted his visit to Hiroshima, Japan, last year, where he met with a survivor of the nuclear bombing in August 1945. He noted that this encounter served as a poignant reminder of the importance of striving towards a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.
"We must continue our progress toward a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons," he urged.
As tensions persist on the global stage, Biden's call for dialogue underscores the urgency of collective efforts to diminish the nuclear peril facing humanity.
