Bild: NATO preparing digital “Kill Web” to protect eastern borders
NATO is planning to establish a comprehensive digital surveillance system along its eastern borders stretching from Romania to Finland, aimed at tracking Russian military movements in real time, Bild reports.
According to the newspaper, which reviewed alliance documents related to the project, the initiative is being developed under the codename Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative (EFDI).
The system would use satellites, drones, ground sensors and robotic platforms to monitor activity along NATO's eastern flank. Data collected by these assets would be rapidly analysed using artificial intelligence and shared with all alliance members.
The documents refer to the network as "Kill Web."
In the event of a potential threat, such as an incoming drone or missile, NATO command would be able to quickly determine which member state should respond and what type of weapon system would be most appropriate for the interception.
