British intelligence: Russia admits inability to capture key cities of Ukraine
Russia withdrew units from the Kharkov region to reorganize and replenish its forces after heavy losses. However, such a move is a tacit admission of the inability of the Russian Federation to capture key Ukrainian cities, where they expected limited resistance from the population.
It is reported by Caliber.Az with reference to the daily intelligence report of the British Ministry of Defense.
The department reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to counterattack north of Kharkov, recapturing several cities and villages towards the Russian border.
“The priority given by Russia to operations in the Donbas has left the units deployed in the Kharkiv region vulnerable to mobile and highly motivated Ukrainian counterattack forces,” the report says.
The British Ministry of Defense stressed that despite the success of Russian troops to surround Kharkov in the initial stage of the war, Moscow nevertheless withdrew part of the troops to reorganize and replenish forces.
“After recovery, these forces are likely to be deployed on the eastern bank of the Seversky Donets River, forming a blocking force to protect the western flank of the concentration of the main Russian forces and the main supply routes for operations in the Izyum region,” the report says.
