California: Two students burned alive after Tesla Cybertruck doors locked in crash
Two U.S. students were burned alive after the doors of a Tesla Cybertruck malfunctioned, trapping them inside following a crash.
Nineteen-year-old Krista Tsukahara and 20-year-old Jack Nelson were “locked” in the burning vehicle after driver 19-year-old Soren Dixon lost control at high speed, causing the Cybertruck to crash into a tree in a San Francisco suburb, Caliber.Az reports per LADBible.
The families of the victims claim that the Tesla’s electronic door design made escape nearly impossible after the accident.
The Cybertruck’s doors open via a button and rely on a separate 12-volt battery, independent from the main high-voltage battery. Following the crash, when the electric system was disabled, passengers could not exit. According to the lawsuit, Nelson and Tsukahara survived the initial collision with minor injuries but died from burns and smoke inhalation, unable to escape the cabin.
“Tesla may try to blame the driver, but this vehicle should not have buried these people alive. We want to hold the company accountable and fix this dangerous design,” said the attorney.
