CDU headquarters in Hamburg hit by repeat vandalism
The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) headquarters in Hamburg’s Winterhude district was vandalized once again, as unknown individuals hurled red paint at the building situated near the Alster.
The incident, which took place overnight, is under investigation by local authorities, though no suspects have been identified at this time, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
According to a police spokesperson, the damage was discovered early in the morning by witnesses, who reported red paint splattered across the building's façade along with a slogan, the contents of which have not been publicly disclosed. “So far, there are no indications of suspects,” the spokesperson confirmed.
Dennis Thering, the CDU’s state chairman, condemned the act as an attack not only on property but on democratic discourse. “This is a disgrace,” Thering stated. “Anyone who thinks they can win political debates through paint attacks and slogans is gravely mistaken. Vandalism is no substitute for arguments.”
This marks the latest in a series of politically motivated vandalism incidents targeting the CDU office. A similar attack occurred during the last state parliamentary election campaign, according to a party spokesperson.
