AI drones urge South Korean farmers to leave fields during extreme heat

AI-powered drones have begun urging farmers to leave their fields during periods of extreme heat in South Korea, as authorities step up efforts to protect agricultural workers from heat-related illness.

According to Nate, the city of Asan in South Chungcheong Province has deployed drones equipped with cameras featuring video analytics and loudspeakers.

When a drone detects a person working in a field during dangerously hot conditions, it broadcasts a message advising them to stop work and seek shade or move to the nearest heat shelter.

"If necessary, personnel at the scene are notified so they can escort the individual to the nearest heat shelter," the report said.
