China overtakes Europe, Britain in car production

China produced 21 million passenger cars, overtaking the European Union and Britain twice from January to October 2023.

"China produced 20.7 million cars in January-October, which was an absolute record among similar periods of previous years. At the same time in the European Union and Britain on the background of anti-Russian sanctions things are not so good: for 10 months of this year, the output lagged behind the figures of four years ago by 22.5 per cent, amounting to 10.4 million pieces," Gazeta.ru reports, citing the message.

It is noted that the Chinese automotive industry employs 30 million people, which is more than twice as many as in Europe (12.9 million workers).
