Polish PM warns Ukraine could face "catastrophic" winter
19 September 2026 13:35
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Ukraine could face a “catastrophic” winter, citing what he said were record military casualties.
Speaking in the Sejm, Tusk said Ukrainian partners had told him that about 27,000 Ukrainian troops were being killed or wounded each month, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
He said casualties had increased recently because of Russia’s new strategy and technological capabilities, including jet-powered drones.
Tusk said the figure was the highest recorded during the war.
“At this rate, winter in Ukraine could indeed be catastrophic,” he said.
