Ukraine's parliament takes 26-day recess amid funding legislation delays

19 September 2026 13:49

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has gone on a 26-day recess amid difficulties in passing legislation needed to secure continued international funding, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said.

The break runs from September 17 to October 13, according to Zheleznyak, who said parliament had again suspended its plenary sessions, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

"The Rada has again gone on a long break from plenary sessions. Almost a month, namely 26 days, from September 17 to October 13," he wrote on Telegram.

Zheleznyak said the recess was linked to serious problems with passing laws required for continued international financial assistance.

He also said the situation was being compounded by a financial crisis stemming from a lack of assistance from Western partners.
