Houthis say there is no progress towards ceasefire with Saudi Arabia

There has been no progress in political or diplomatic talks between Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, and Saudi Arabia, a member of the group's political bureau has said.

Huzam al-Asad told Russia's TASS news agency that there was “nothing new” regarding the political and diplomatic process.

He was responding to reports that Oman was mediating discussions on a possible two-week ceasefire between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.

Al-Asad said Saudi authorities continued to avoid commitments made under a previously agreed roadmap mediated by Oman and under the auspices of the UN.

Saudi Arabia has asked Oman to approach Ansar Allah with a proposal for a two-week ceasefire, during which the sides could discuss ways to address the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
