China’s grain output rises 1.2% to record 714.88 million tonnes in 2025
China’s grain production grew by 1.2% in 2025, reaching an all-time high of 714.88 million tonnes, according to data released on December 12 by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The figures show strong performance in key producing regions, led by Heilongjiang Province in the northeast. The province recorded its 22nd consecutive bumper harvest, with output rising to a record 82 million tonnes, Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.
Officials attributed the sustained growth to ongoing investment in agricultural technology and land management. Heilongjiang deployed more than 176,000 high-performance seeding machines this year and continued to promote scientific farming practices, including soil testing and targeted fertilisation, dense planting techniques, and integrated water–fertiliser irrigation systems.
NBS representative Wei Fenghua said the stable increase in output was supported by measures to protect and improve arable land, optimize crop structures, and bring abandoned land back into use.
He said the record harvest provides a strong foundation for agricultural modernisation, rural development, and the country’s broader economic recovery. It also contributes to stabilising international grain markets and strengthening global food security, he added.
