Chinese FM calls on Africa to unite in fight for fair multipolar world
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on African nations to unite in the fight for a fair and orderly multipolar world, free from hegemony and protectionism.
"The world has entered a new era of upheaval and change. However, regardless of how the international situation evolves, China's and Africa's commitment to working together to ensure international order and justice remains unchanged," the article states, Caliber.Az reports, citing the minister’s article, published on the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website ahead of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which will open on September 4 and will run until September 6.
Wang Yi highlighted that China advocates for an equitable and orderly multipolar world and comprehensive economic globalization, which has been well received and positively responded to by Africa.
He emphasised that China and Africa jointly defend genuine multilateralism, oppose unilateralism, hegemony, and protectionism, and steadfastly support the international system centered around the United Nations and the international order based on international law. They adhere firmly to the five principles of peaceful coexistence and other core norms of international relations, while also protecting common and legitimate human rights and freedoms, and the interests of the Global South.
