CIS security chiefs convene in Moscow to discuss West’s "ideological expansion"
On November 5, security council secretaries from CIS member states meet in Moscow for their 13th session to discuss regional security challenges and what Russia calls the West’s “ideological expansion.”
The meeting is being held under the chairmanship of Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu, who is also scheduled to hold separate bilateral talks with his counterparts from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The Russian Security Council’s press office said the agenda includes “security challenges and threats within the CIS area and possible joint response measures.”
Shoigu described the gathering of CIS security chiefs as a “truly unique format for open and constructive dialogue,” allowing participants “not only to discuss the most difficult issues on the security agenda, but also to develop joint solutions to protect our countries and peoples from external and internal threats on the firm foundation of shared traditional values.”
The meeting will conclude the international festival “Peoples of Russia and the CIS”, which has been taking place in Moscow since October 31.
