Training helicopter crashes in Ankara, one killed PHOTO / UPDATED

One serviceman has died following the crash of a training helicopter in the Turkish capital, Ankara, Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said.

The victim was one of two military personnel injured when the R-44 training helicopter went down.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

The helicopter belonged to Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ).

A training helicopter has crashed in the Temelli area of Sincan district in Ankara, Turkish media reported on Wednesday (July 22).

Emergency services were sent to the scene following the incident, according to Halk. Authorities launched an operation to assess the situation and provide assistance.

Preliminary reports indicate that two people were injured in the crash.
