Commission: Armenians dumped bodies of Azerbaijani prisoners into sewage pit
The bodies of Azerbaijani captives and hostages who died as a result of torture were dumped by Armenians into a pit with sewage water on the territory of Shusha prison.
As a result of excavations conducted from August 1 to August 15, remains of 17 people were found on the territory of Shusha prison, Zaur Ismayilov, a representative of The State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, said, Report informs.
He said that as a result of the excavations carried out between August 1 and 15, human remains of 17 people were discovered in the territory of the Shusha prison.
"Of those bone remains, 11 are complete, and 6 are different fragments of the human skeleton. The cemetery where the human remains were found was a well for the collection of sewage on the territory of the Shusha prison. Our captives and hostages who died as a result of torture were thrown into that well in a chaotic and inappropriate situation," Ismayilov said.
Nails found among the fragments of six skeletons discovered in Shusha suggest that the prisoners tortured to death were forced to swallow them, Ismailov added.
According to him, there are also signs of both gunshot injuries to bones and those inflicted by stabbing and cutting objects.
Mass graves have so far been found in Azerbaijan's liberated areas, including in the villages of Sarijaly in the Agdam region, Dashalti in the Shusha region, Edilli in the Khojavand region, Farrukh in the Khojaly region, Yukhari Seyidahmadli in the Fuzuli region, Kalbajar, Aghdam and other settlements.
