COP29 CEO: Azerbaijan vulnerable to negative consequences of climate change
Deputy Energy Minister of Azerbaijan, COP29 Chief Executive Officer Elnur Soltanov, has said that global climate change might threaten the existence of some island states.
He made the remarks at an event at the ADA University "Caspian Blue Horizons" during discussions on the theme "Discussing science and business synergies for climate and Caspian Sea sustainability in the run-up to COP29", Trend reports.
"Azerbaijan is negotiating with island states that may suffer irreparable damage from the effects of climate change. These states will also participate in COP29," Soltanov emphasised.
He also mentioned that Azerbaijan itself is exposed to the negative effects of climate change, such as drought and floods.
"The problem of water resources deficit will be included in the agenda of the forthcoming COP29 in Baku," the deputy minister added.
